Author Guidelines

All submissions to PLA Inside Out have not been previously published, nor are they being considered by another journal.  The main language of this journal and all submissions is English. Articles written in other languages may be submitted as long as an English translation accompanies the submission.  Authors are responsible for providing English translations.  Both the English and other language versions will be published.

Texts should be single-spaced using 12-point font.  All illustrations, figures, and tables should be placed within the text at the appropriate points.  Scholarly submissions should contain an abstract of no more than 150 words, as well as a list of six key words.  Authors are expected to remove all personal/identifiable information from the manuscript; in replacement, the word “author” and the year should be used throughout the manuscript.

Typically, scholarly articles should be 7,500 words or less and should follow stylistic and bibliographic guidelines of the latest edition (currently, the sixth edition, 2010) of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA).  Other writings should be between 500 and 1000 words.

Authors should submit their contributions electronically through this site as Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format documents.

Submission Preparation Checklist

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
